Mochi Glow Mango Sticky Rice Review

A review of Mochi Glow's recreation of my favorite dessert.

I have been looking for a realistic Mango Sticky Rice perfume for a minute. Mango is my favorite fruit, and Mango Sticky Rice is my favorite dessert, so I have high expectations. After ordering a candle from Mochi Glow, they gave me a free sample of this fragrance, and I was so excited to finally get my nose on it. I have tried other Mango Sticky Rice scents in the past, but they have never quite managed to meet my expectations. This one is a much better recreation of Mango Sticky Rice, or at least the spirit of it.

The fragrance opens with a bright, juicy mango and creamy, sweet pandan. While the mango scent is definitely prominent, I feel as though there may be some passionfruit as well. Tangy and sharp, the mango is a bit reminiscent of the passionfruit scents I’ve tried in the past (like Arielle Shoshana’s Saturday). The pandan is subtle and not as strong as the mango off the bat. I wasn’t sure what the pandan note was at first, but it was incredibly familiar. Once I looked at the notes and saw pandan, I recognized the scent from another Thai dessert made with pandan and coconut jelly. I loved the addition of pandan; it is a nice twist that I have not yet seen in other mango sticky rice perfumes. After the first hour or so, the mango tapers off, but the pandan lingers for a bit on top of the creamy coconut and rice. The rice note in this is not as starchy and scratchy as other rice fragrances where rice is the focus.

I’m writing this 5 hours after application, and the scent is still present, but I’m not sure if anyone else would be able to tell anymore (unless their nose is on my wrist). This is such a fun addition to my sample collection and my new favorite mango fragrance. I will have to purchase their full sample collection; I’m sure they’ll all be as good as this one.

Keep on Sniffing,
